This course will address legal framework and legal forms available for philanthropic projects, constitution, conduct and principles to be observed for donations. The course will also cover regulatory and taxation issues from an international and comparative perspective and provide insights regarding financial management and investment strategy in the field of philanthropy.

The first day of this course, co-taught by Dr. Jean-Philippe Krafft, Dr. Benoît Merkt (Lenz & Staehelin), Mr. Arnaud Apffel, and Dr. Timothy Nielander, addresses recent trends and developments in the practice of philanthropy from a Swiss and American perspective.

The second day of this year’s course relies on contributions by Mr. Stéphane Brabant (TRINITY International) on the use of blockchain for philanthropy, as well as presentations of practical legal challenges by Ms Laura Boscacci from the ACLEM Foundation and Mr. Onno Ruhl from the Aga Khan Agency for Habitat.
